On two occasions, June 7 and July 5, 2025, our partner, Attorney Ting-Han Lin, was invited by the Professional Development Committee of the Taipei Bar Association to deliver a specialized lecture titled “Building Your AI Assistant from Scratch.” During these sessions, he shared insights on the application of AI technology in legal practice and related risk management strategies with legal professionals.
The overwhelming success of the first session led to a highly requested second one, with both courses being fully booked as soon as registration opened. Attorney Lin began by addressing the practical needs of practicing lawyers, offering an accessible introduction to the operational principles and latest trends of generative AI. The hands-on session guided attendees through the process of setting up a local AI assistant environment, sharing fundamental frameworks and techniques for prompt writing, and introducing practical tools like NotebookLM and MacWhisper to help lawyers enhance their workflow efficiency.
In his lectures, Attorney Lin particularly emphasized the importance of establishing a robust risk management framework when utilizing AI. He provided practical advice on data minimization, anonymization, and other security principles, as well as management procedures for internal firm policies, monitoring, and record-keeping. His guidance ensures that while lawyers can enjoy the convenience of technology, they also strictly maintain the security of client data.
Going forward, our firm will continue to monitor the latest developments at the intersection of technology and law. By combining our legal expertise with technological applications, we aim to provide our clients with more forward-thinking legal services and assist our industry peers in confidently navigating the challenges of digital transformation.
