Experience

Mr. Wei-De Hung obtained his Ph.D. degree in criminal law from Hitotsubashi University in Japan, and has practiced law over a decade. His services mainly focus on cross-border investment between Japan and Taiwan, e-commerce, intellectual property, international trade, cross-border transactions, personal data protection, corporate anti-corruption and legal compliance. He has numerous experiences in advising dispute prevention, legal risk reduction, contract/legal documents review, strategies for dispute resolution and litigation, representation in civil/criminal litigation as well as arbitration. Mr. Hung particularly specializes in criminal cases and is able to advise corporate clients on risks and strategies critical in all stages of criminal proceedings by providing specific and practical proposals, and therefore is well regarded by the clients.

Mr. Hung used to work in Japanese law firms when studying in Japan, and also to serve as a translator and liaison for Taiwanese judicial agencies during their visit in Japan, thus having accumulated abundant experiences and understanding in Japan legal practice and Japanese law. After returning to his practice in Taiwan, he had assisted in cases such as Taiwanese being arrested for criminal charges in Japan and disputes derived from Taiwanese’s purchase of real estate in Japan. Mr. Hung can smoothly cooperate with other professionals such as Japanese lawyers to successfully complete the tasks entrusted by clients. In addition, he also constantly advises Japanese corporations for their business development in Taiwan, including conducting due diligence and consult for local investment or M&A activities.

Mr. Hung has many years of experience in litigation and mediation, handling various types of cases, including corporate management disputes, cooperate reorganizations, intra-enterprise corruption, intellectual property disputes, trade secrets, labor- disputes, medical disputes, construction disputes, governmental procurement disputes, anti-corruption and anti-bribery matters, breach of trust, fraudulent, securities trading and other major economic crimes, food safety, occupational accidents, traffic accidents, etc. In the fields of intra-enterprise corruption and trade secret protection, which are of increasing importance in recent years, Mr. Hung is experienced in conducting internal corporate investigations to clarify facts and secure evidence for domestic and foreign companies where corporate corruption and trade secret leakage have occurred. In addition, Mr. Hung has represented well-known companies and successfully obtained favorable judgments in corporate corruption and trade secret leakage cases.
