Mr. Kuo-Yao Tai has obtained his master’s degree from the College of Law, National Chengchi University, specializing in labor law during his studies. His master’s thesis “The Labor Protection of Asbestos Occupational Illness- A Comparative Study on Legal Systems of Taiwan and Japan” was honored with the Taiwan Labor Law Association Master’s Thesis Award in 2019. After obtaining the Japanese-Taiwan Exchange Association scholarship for doctoral candidates, he pursued further studies in labor law at Nagoya University in Japan, conducting in-depth research on relief measures for self-employed operators in asbestos occupational accidents.
Mr. Tai has assisted corporate clients in resolving labor-related disputes and regularly reviewed labor contracts and work place rules, showcasing his extensive experience in the field. Moreover, he has also assisted cases involving unfair labor practices and provided relevant legal advice. Apart from labor law, Mr. Tai has often assisted clients in reviewing joint construction contracts and researching legal issues related to construction projects. Additionally, he has handled a diverse range of cases, including civil damage claims, criminal extortion for financial gain, and waste disposal, among others.
Mr. Tai is one of the limited legal professionals in Taiwan who specializes in researching issues related to asbestos occupational diseases. He has collaborated with experts and scholars from the medical and public health fields to publish the book “Deadly Dust: Asbestos Diseases, Occupational Disease Storm in the History of Industrial Development.” Moreover, Mr. Tai’s master’s thesis extensively delved into legal issues concerning the recognition of asbestos diseases in Taiwan and Japan, civil remedies for asbestos victims, and state compensation, providing valuable insights and expertise that are highly acknowledged within the field of asbestos occupational diseases.
